Engineering Support for Start-up of Large Underground and Surface Copper, Cobalt and Zinc Operation—Baja, Mexico
Starting in 2005 and continuing into 2014, Agapito Associates, Inc. (AAI) has provided the mining engineering services required to bring this large underground and surface mining operation into production. This industrial metals operation will have over 40 different mines exploiting ore from four different mantos (clay seams). AAI’s participation in this project has included:
- Feasibility Study for the mining portion of the project
- Reserve study
- Assisted with management of underground test mining
- Underground mines layout and scheduling
- Surface mines layout and scheduling
- Development of pillar/entry geometry
- Design of installed ground support
- Assist with belt conveyor design
- Ventilation planning and design including ventilation chillers
- Assist with surface mining and underground mining equipment specifications
- Assist with surface infrastructure and facilities layout and design
- Assist with mitigation of historical and proposed underground workings on tailings disposal area
- Assist with surface haul road layout
